花・言葉・五感を通して、自分を大切にできる場所

はじめまして。HanaKoto | Flower & Word Atelier 代表の一綸です。

毎年いけばなを教えに行っている小学校でのこと。ある小学４年生の子が「自分が作るものなんて（良いものになるわけない）」と私に挑戦状を叩きつけてきました。純粋に楽しむ時間がこれから始まろうとしていたその時に。さらに、自分の作品だけは「いいところがわからない」と言う子もいました。どうしてそんなふうに感じてしまうのでしょう？「みんな違って、みんないい」のに。

お花だけではありません。長年、さまざまな年代の人に英語を教えてきましたが、「私は英語が苦手だから」という言葉をよく耳にします。学ぼうとしているその姿勢がどんなに素晴らしいかは見えていないのですね。できないこと、足りないところばかりにフォーカスしてしまう。

学校が、社会が、そうさせているのでしょうか？
ならば、そのままの自分をまるっと肯定できる「誰もが自分を好きになれる場所」を作りたい。そこからHanaKotoが始まりました。

これまで口コミだけで教室を続けてきました。幼稚園時代から大学入試まで通ってくれた子も、親子でいけばなを楽しむ方も、仲間と一緒に手を動かしながら語らうワークショップが好きな方も、きっと「自分を好きになれる」時間と空間が心地よくて通ってくださっているのだと思います。

自分らしさに自信を持って成長していける場として、これからも一人ひとりにあたたかく丁寧に寄り添っていきたいと思います。

ちなみに、冒頭で挑戦状を叩きつけてきたあの子も、最後には「自分の作品は最高だと思う人、手を挙げて」という問いかけに、しっかり手を挙げてくれました。

一綸 プロフィール

東京都文京区生まれ。
都立竹早高校を経て、早稲田大学第一文学部人文専修へ進学。在学中にUCLAへ留学し、アメリカの幼児教育コースを受講しました。中学・高校の英語教員免許を取得後、都内公立中学校で英語教員として勤務。

1994年から2001年までアメリカに在住。大学で美術を学びながら、シリコンバレーのIT企業に勤務しました。異文化の中で「伝えること」と「表現すること」を探究する時間でもありました。

9.11の翌年に帰国し、龍生派いけばなに入門。
二人の子育てをしながら英語教室と花の教室を開講。現在は都内私立小学校で英語専任講師を務める傍ら、新アトリエの準備を進めています。

アーティストとして多数のグループ展に参加。2022年龍生展では来場者人気投票第1位を獲得しました。
「ウェルカムリースの会」を主宰し、年間100名以上が参加。オーダーメイド作品や舞台・店舗装花の制作も手がけています。

近年は写真表現にも力を注ぎ、フリーランスフォトグラファーとしての活動を本格化させるべく、研鑽を重ねています。

花、ことば、そして光。
表現を通して、その人らしさがそっと花ひらく時間を届けていきたいと願っています。

A Place to Nurture Yourself through Flowers, Words, and the Senses

Hello, I’m Ichirin, the founder of HanaKoto | Flower & Word Atelier.

At an elementary school where I teach ikebana every year, a fourth grader once said to me: “Nothing I make will ever turn out well.” It was right before the class was about to begin—a time meant for pure enjoyment. Some children could compliment their friends’ work, yet struggled to find anything good in their own. Why do they feel that way? After all, everyone is different, and that’s what makes us all wonderful.

This isn’t limited to flowers. Over many years of teaching English, I have often heard people say, “I’m not good at English.” They don’t see how admirable it is simply to try. Too often, the focus is only on what’s lacking.

Perhaps it’s schools, or perhaps society itself, that shapes such thinking. That is why I wanted to create “a place where anyone can truly embrace themselves.” That is how HanaKoto began.

Until now, my classes have grown entirely through word of mouth. Some children have studied English with me from kindergarten through university entrance exams. Some parents and children enjoy ikebana together, while others return often for workshops where conversation flows as hands are busy. I believe people come because they find here a space and time where they can like themselves.

I hope HanaKoto continues to be a place where each person can grow with confidence in their own uniqueness, warmly supported every step of the way.

And by the way—the child who challenged me at the very beginning? By the end, when I asked, “Raise your hand if you think your work is the best,” that child proudly raised his hand.

Profile – Ichirin

Born in Tokyo, I studied Humanities at Waseda University and later completed coursework in early childhood education at UCLA. After earning my English teaching license, I began my career as a junior high school teacher in Tokyo.

I lived in the United States from 1994 to 2001, studying fine art while working in Silicon Valley. After returning to Japan, I began studying Ikebana in the Ryusei-ha school and established both an English classroom and a flower studio while raising two children.

I have participated in numerous exhibitions and received first place in the visitor popularity vote at the 2022 Ryusei Ikebana Exhibition. I also lead floral workshops and create custom floral designs for events and commercial spaces.

In recent years, I have expanded my artistic practice into photography.

Through flowers, words, and light, I hope to create moments where individuality can gently bloom.
